The video for the “Back in Time” contains bloopers and never before seen clips from the band’s other hit videos, including “I Want a New Drug”, “If This Is It”, “Heart of Rock & Roll”, and “Heart and Soul”. A poster of Huey Lewis and the News album, “Sports”, is on Marty McFly’s bedroom wall too. Huey Lewis also makes a cameo appearance in the film as one of the judges at the Battle of the Bands where The Pinheads auditioned for at the beginning of Back to the Future. Lewis would later say that it turned out pretty easy to write for film. ![]() Huey almost passed on doing the music for the film, saying that he didn’t know how to write for film. Back to the Future ’s composer, Alan Silvestri, who worked on Romancing the Stone with Zemeckis was the party to first recommend that Huey Lewis and the News write the film’s opening jam.
